Moscow is the capital and the largest city in the Russian Federation and is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center. It is located on the Moscva River and river traffic from the Volga uses a canal to reach the city.
We visited Moscow twice -- before we flew to Astrakhan and by our cruise ship. The first images were taken the first visit -- the weather was cold, dark, foggy, and rainy. Upon our return, the weather was very nice for photography.
We spent most of our time in our near Red Square and the Kremlin. The original Moscow Kremlin was built in the 14th century. Spasskaya Tower was built in 1491. The Kremlin's Great Bell Tower was built in 1505–08 and augmented to its present height in 1600.
